Unlike most male animals, some males of the social spider mite engage in deadly fights with rival males. Their level of aggression (low, mild or high) is related to the geographical location, and the resulting climate, of the colony in which the mites live. It appears that as the temperature rises, so do the tempers of the male spider mites.
